NAACP Letter of Invitation

Dear Parent:

Tulsa Community College invites you and your sixth- through 12th-grade children to attend a celebration of African-American history at the 11th annual Youth Helping Youth Conference from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 22 on TCC’s Northeast Campus, 3727 East Apache (at the corner of Apache and Harvard). This event includes free lunch and free parking.

Youth Helping Youth celebrates African-American history and has student and parent workshops that target important education and life skills. These sessions provide information about how to prepare for and finance a college education and how to develop skills necessary to be successful in life. Students may use this information regardless of the college they choose. Participants will also learn about the Tulsa Achieves Program, which provides free tuition and fees for eligible students attending Tulsa Community College.

Enclosed you will find more information about Youth Helping Youth, which is a partnership among the Tulsa NAACP, NAACP Youth Council, and Tulsa Community College.

If you are interested in attending, please call (918) 595-7838 or register online at by Thursday, Feb. 20. Register as soon as possible since workshops fill up quickly. However, you may also register onsite on the day of the program.

Tickets to win door prizes will be distributed at registration to each student and parent participant, and winning numbers will be announced at lunch. The winner of the grand prize will receive a Nook HD. Winners must be present to win.

In case of inclement weather forcing the College to close, the event will take place Saturday, March 1. (Please listen to the media reports on school closings, if needed.)

If you have questions, call Tony Alonso at (918) 595-7838.

Sincerely yours,
