TCC Theatre Department Opens 2013-2014 Season

The subjects of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder and use of prescription pills take center stage as the Tulsa Community College Theater department opens its 2013-2014 season with “Distracted” by Lisa Loomer.

“Distracted” is a hilarious, provocative and poignant play that examines the modern family and an epidemic dilemma: Are we so tuned into our technology and information rich world that we’ve tuned out what really matters?  The production is a multi-media barrage from beginning to end as we join in on a mother’s quest to find help for Jesse, her 9-year-old son who is diagnosed with ADHD.

This comedy/drama takes a look at the constant bombardment through technology, the use of medication to cope, and the struggles of a family to find understanding with what is happening in their lives.

“Distracted” is directed by Jim Runyan.  The play contains adult language and mature subject matter.  Strobe lights will be used during this production.

Performances are 8 p.m., Oct. 4, 5, 10, 11 and 12 and 2 p.m., Oct.6 and 13 at the VanTrease Performing Arts Center for Education Studio Theater at TCC’s Southeast Campus.  The theater is located at 10300 East 81st Street in Tulsa.  Please call 918-595-7777 for ticket information.
