Oklahoma native and Broadway veteran Sam Harris returns to Tulsa with a new show based on, and titled after the book he wrote called “HAM: Slices of a Life”. The actor, singer, songwriter, Tony nominated performer and now, author, will perform what he describes a “liter-usical” -- a mix of literary and musical. The performance is 8 p.m., Feb. 1 at the Tulsa Community College Southeast Campus Performing Arts Center for Education (PACE).

The book, “HAM: Slices of a Life”, is a collection of stories and essays and will be released on January 14. The book serves as the basis for the show which is an innovative and exciting hybrid theatrical concept incorporating humorous and poignant stories from the book interspersed with songs to create an original and cutting edge stage piece.

“This show is completely different from my previous performances and is very much a theatre piece - not a reading or a concert,” said Sam Harris. “It's a new kind of show. We've tried to create the roller coaster that all my shows go on, but this one is so personal. It is really my stories – funny, poignant and very personal.”

The show opens in New York and makes a stop in Tulsa as part of his coast-to-coast tour. Harris’s successful career has spanned 30 years from winning Star Search’s premier season to writing for TV and stage and producing TV shows and specials. Harris is a Sand Springs native and excited to bring his new show back home.

“Many of the stories in the book and in the show recount my childhood and some of the people mentioned will even be in the audience,” said Sam Harris. “It's also about my life in show biz, being a dad so it covers a lot of ground. Ultimately, it's a celebration.”

“HAM: Slices of a Life”,the book will be on sale at the event and Harris will hold a book signing following the performance. Tickets for“HAM: Slices of a Life” range from $30 - $45 and can be purchased at the Tulsa Community College Southeast Campus PACE Box Office, at www.myticketoffice.com or by calling (918) 595-7777.
