Coming 2022: Student Success Centers at TCC Metro and Northeast Campuses

Barriers for students are crumbling with construction underway on the Tandy Student Success Center at the Metro Campus and the Herman and Kate Kaiser Student Success Center at the Northeast Campus.

When completed, the new Student Success Centers will revolutionize the student experience by removing physical barriers and the need to go from office to office. Students will see a clearly identified starting point and check-in area instead of rows of counters and offices for multiple departments, each with its own line. The Centers will also serve as the front door to the campus so anyone who is interested in attending college can get started. The Centers include space for Academic Advising, Career Services, Engagement and Retention, New Student Orientation, and Transfer Student.

“Nearly one in three students attending TCC is the first in their family to attend college and it is critical we provide services to get an individual into college in a way that is not confusing or intimidating,” says Dr. Leigh Goodson, TCC president & CEO. “By creating Student Success Centers on all four main campuses, we are moving to meet students where they are and their expectations.”

The Tandy Student Success Center at Metro is funded with a $2.1 million gift from A.R. and Marylouise Tandy through the $20 million Clearing the Pathway: The Campaign for Completion. It will also be home to the Governor and Senator Dewey F. Bartlett Academic Advising Center on the TCC Metro Campus. Named after Governor Bartlett, it recognizes a man who was instrumental in helping to pass legislation and to start TCC, formerly Tulsa Junior College. The Governor and Senator Dewey F. Bartlett Academic Advising Center was made possible through support from Tom and Joan Atkinson. Construction is expected to be completed by late Spring 2022.

Construction on the Herman and Kate Kaiser Student Success Center at the Northeast Campus, funded by a gift from the Ruth Nelson Family Foundation, started in Dec. 2021. It is expected to be completed by Fall 2022.

The Hardesty Student Success Center at the West Campus was officially dedicated in Oct. 2021. The College opened the first Student Success and Career Center at the Southeast Campus in Aug. 2019 with the help of the Vision Tulsa package approved by voters.
