50th Anniversary Notable Alumni Feature Elli Johannsson: From starting his own company to giving back through his company, Elli is coming full circle. As an immigrate from Iceland, he moved to the U.S. after high school. His first experience with the American education system was stepping onto the Tulsa Community College Southeast Campus in 1993. He would go on to earn a bachelor’s degree in Architectural Engineering. As a TCC student, he said he spent countless hours at the Southeast Campus Math Lab, which contributed to his strong foundation of math and science that serves him every day and gives him the confidence to compete on a global scale.
Today, he serves a principal structural engineer at 360 Engineering Group, which employs 20-plus people and has three offices in Tulsa, Oklahoma City and Manhattan, Kansas. One of his recent projects was the new Student Success and Career Center at the TCC Southeast Campus. “Being able to contribute to enhancing the experience for future students at the campus has been incredibly rewarding,” he said.
Elli has served on the boards of Street School and The Oklahoma Center for Community and Justice. He was a trustee for the Tulsa Parking Authority for six years and a graduate of Leadership Tulsa Class 46. He currently serves as a board member for Entrepreneurs Organization, a global organization for entrepreneurs.
His passion for strengthening the community extends through his company. He supports and encourages his employees to get involved with nonprofit organizations through volunteer hours, direct financial contributions and provides significantly reduced or free services for more than a dozen local nonprofits.
