50th Anniversary Notable Alumni Feature Michael Willis, M.P.A: Michael grew up in West Tulsa and Sapulpa. As a senior at Sapulpa High School, he started Liberal Arts classes at Tulsa Community College in 1997. He would go on to earn a bachelor’s degree in Public Affairs and Administration and master’s degree in Public Administration. “TCC was invaluable to my overall college career. The faculty were top-notch, and I found that my experience helped complement my university experience,” he said.
He has spent most of his career as a public servant working for the City of Tulsa as the Tulsa Mayor's Office as Director of Government Relations and Tulsa County Government as Public Information Officer and Chief Deputy County Commissioner. In 2016, he was elected as Tulsa County Clerk and has worked diligently to improve services and processes within his office.
Michael is very active in the community and frequently gives back to TCC students as a guest speaker for management and leadership development classes. In addition to volunteering his time as a Reserve Police Officer for the Tulsa Police Department, he is a graduate of Leadership Tulsa Class 34 and a member of the Rotary Club of Tulsa and Tulsa’s Young Professionals. He also serves on other boards including Rebuild Oklahoma, Tulsa Sports Commission, INCOG and Friends of the MET. He also served on the Board of Directors for the Office of Juvenile Affairs. He received a public service Paragon Award from Leadership Tulsa in 2018.
Michael and his wife, Marcie, live in Tulsa with their kids, Olivia and Mark. Michael is also an enrolled member of the Cherokee Nation.
