50th Anniversary Notable Alumni Feature Pat Bruner: Pat is an independent business entrepreneur and a pioneer in the Oklahoma wind energy industry. She’s also a book author, educator and community activist who went to college in the 1970s during the early years of Tulsa Junior College, now Tulsa Community College.

While attending TJC, she served as associate editor of the College’s first newspaper and recalled her work in establishing a student organization on campus. “I started the Society of Office Science Careers Pre-Professional organization and served as chapter president,” she said. “We also mentored other students with academic support.”

While a student, she received the President’s Scholarship from Dr. Alfred Philips, TJC’s first president. Pat was involved in student government, on the TJC honor roll and graduated with honors. In addition, she was a member of Phi Theta Kappa and was listed in Who’s Who in American Colleges.

Pat spent 20 years as a Tulsa County Election Board Precinct official and 25 years serving her community, from working on and chairing the Tulsa County 2025 Sales Tax Overview Committee to volunteering as the City of Tulsa Neighborhood Association’s President. She also has been highly involved in the state’s commerce in oil and gas resources, retail and ranching.

Pat was also recognized as one of the Best of TCC Distinguished Alumni in 2013 and named a Woman of Distinction by Tulsa Business and Legal News.
