BusinessTaylor Finley found a calling and motivation at TCC that she didn’t anticipate. The Tulsa native’s experiences at TCC didn’t match what she expected.
“I think I expected it to be really boring, and I expected to not like it,” the Booker T. Washington High School graduate said. “I love that classes are small and that every professor I’ve had genuinely cares about student success.”
Taylor finished an associate degree in Accounting in Dec. 2016, and will add a second degree in Management Information Systems in May 2017. She’ll be transferring to Oklahoma State University to complete a bachelor’s in MIS, but she’s looking forward to a future working with college students.
“I’ve gotten to see first hand what Student Affairs has to offer,” Taylor said. “I’ve been involved in all kinds of student organizations, and now I don’t want to leave.”
Taylor was accepted in 2016 into the NASPA - Student Affairs Administrators in Higher Education Undergraduate Fellows Program, for students from traditionally underrepresented and historically disenfranchised populations who have an interest in Student Affairs and Higher Education.
“You go to college for academic reasons, but there’s a whole personal growth aspect that Student Affairs reaches, and it’s helped me grow,” she said. “I want to help others in the same way.”
