TCC Metro Campus Provost Recognized as 50 Making a Difference

Flo Potts professional career has been about serving, listening, mentoring and supporting. She has spent nearly three decades in higher education and currently is the Tulsa Community College Metro Campus Provost.

She was recently named one of 50 Making a Difference by The Journal Record as part of the publication’s annual Woman of the Year award. Potts attended a special dinner with the other honorees that recognized their leadership in business and service to their communities.

Potts admits education has been her motivation. She was the first in her family to graduate from high school and attend college. In fact, her parents didn’t attend high school and instead worked on the farm to support their families’ basic needs. She acknowledges her family history inspired her to be a lifelong learner and she earned a bachelor's degree in business, a master’s degree in occupational and adult education, and a doctorate degree in higher education administration.

“What really touched and inspired me about being named 50 Making a Difference was meeting many of the women who have done such wonderful things for people in Oklahoma,” said Potts. “It was all about how they were able to serve others in their leadership roles. TCC has given me the opportunity to serve others within the College and the community, contributing to their success and supporting our mission.”

Potts is retiring from TCC at the end of October after serving nearly 20 years as TCC Metro Campus Provost and working for 28 years at the College. She has served on the boards of the Oklahoma Center for Nonprofits, the DaVinci Institute and as vice chairman of the Tulsa Regional Chamber’s Resource Campaign. She also is a graduate of Leadership Tulsa and Leadership Oklahoma.

Potts graduated from Walters High School in 1965. She is the daughter of Floy Arnold and Ella Eulalia Arnold. Both were longtime residents of Walters before her father passed away and her mother moved into an assisted living facility in Tulsa.
