Nursing Smart Start Orientation

Complete the mandatory self-paced Nursing Smart Start Orientation to learn about admission, program requirements, and student support services at TCC.

Smart Start Orientation provides prospective Nursing students with a realistic view of competitive admission processes and the commitment required to be successful in the TCC Nursing program. Completion of the Nursing Smart Start Orientation is mandatory before you enroll for the upcoming semester or apply to the Nursing program.

Smart Start Nursing Orientation

You can expect to learn about the following:

  • Essential functions in the registered nurse occupation
  • Drug testing
  • Academic and professional ethics
  • Immunization requirements
  • Clinical course completion
  • Student support services at TCC, such as career services, academic advising, wellness services, etc.

Spring 2025 Sessions

The TCC Smart Start Orientation for nursing applicants is required for anyone applying to the TCC Nursing Program. All students are welcome to attend, even if they are just interested in exploring this field.

To attend, please register using the appropriate link below:

February 24 Sessions

1–3 p.m.
Southeast Campus
Register: Feb. 24, Afternoon Session

4–6 p.m.
Southeast Campus
Register: Feb. 24, Evening Session 

February 27 Session

4–6 p.m. 
Metro Campus
Register: Feb. 27 Session

Allied Health Students

If you are an Allied Health program applicant (any Health Science program other than Nursing), please register for the Allied Health Smart Start Orientation.

Contact Your Academic Advisor

If you have questions, please schedule a Starfish appointment with your assigned academic advisor. If you do not have an assigned advisor, then please visit with academic advising.

You can find instructions about making an appointment with your assigned advisor and meeting with academic advising on a walk-in basis at academic advising.

You can find your assigned academic advisor through Starfish:

  1. Log in to Starfish.
  2. From My Success Network, click the triangle beside your advisor’s name, then select Schedule Appointment.
  3. Select the type of appointment, adjust the date range as needed to find days and times that work for your schedule, then select a time from the list.
  4. Complete your sign-up by choosing your location (in-person, virtual, or phone appointment) and add a description of why you want to meet.
  5. Click confirm to finish scheduling the appointment.
